Laurent Miclo becomes director of the Calbinotox unit as of January 1, 2024.
The Calbinotox research unit (Food Compounds: Biofunctionalities and Neurotoxic Risks), previously composed of 11 permanent members (2 full professors, 5 associate professors, 1 research engineer, 3 research technicians, 1 executive secretary), has expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, physiology, histology and food science.
Calbinotox no longer exists as an independent laboratory. The research unit, with its nine members involved in the project, has been integrated into the "Product Engineering" research axis of the Reactions and Process Engineering Laboratory (LRGP), UMR UL-CNRS 7274, since February 4, 2025.
Visit the LRGP website here.
The objective of the Calbinotox project was (i) to study the impact of different food compounds (lactic acid bacteria, peptides with biological activity, etc.) on the health of consumers and (ii) to design by reverse engineering foods adapted to different types of populations (personalized nutrition) in order to maximize their positive effects on health.
The integration of Calbinotox within the LRGP's "Product Engineering" research axis allows:
